The design behind Tekke Oat comes from Turkmen tribe, Merv oasis. Tekke rugs are what most of the world means by "Bukhara" — Bukhara was only the market they were sold in. The Tekke drew the most regular gül in Central Asia and repeated it with near-machine precision by hand.

How to read the pattern.

A strict grid of quartered octagonal güls, linked by fine vertical and horizontal lines. The linking lines are the discipline: they turn a repeat into a lattice.

This colourway.

Ivory grounds with the motifs picked out just dark enough to read — restraint doing the work that contrast usually does. A second run of terracotta keeps the field from settling into one note.

How it is made.

Tekke Oat is woven from soft chenille polyester with a flat, low pile that vacuums cleanly and does not shed. The base is woven cotton with a non-slip finish worked into it — no latex, no glue and no rubber crumb, which is exactly why it survives a wash cycle when a rubber-backed rug would not.

Where to put it.

It earns its place in the living room and the bedroom above all, and comes in ten sizes — eight rectangles from a 60 × 100 cm mat to a 200 × 300 cm room anchor, plus 160 cm and 200 cm rounds.

Living with it.

When it needs it, fold it in and wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle. It dries flat in a few hours. It is robot-vacuum friendly, safe for children, and fine under pets — the pile is too short and too dense for claws to catch.

Care & washing

Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Do not bleach. Air dry flat and return to the floor only when fully dry.

Soft chenille polyester is woven into a dense, low pile on a cotton backing with a non-slip finish. It is designed for everyday vacuuming and a domestic 30°C wash.

Como colocar na máquina: Dobre o tapete sem apertar, coloque-o sozinho no tambor e nunca exceda a capacidade de carga seca indicada. Use um ciclo delicado a 30 °C com detergente suave, volte a dar-lhe forma e seque-o ao ar, na horizontal. Siga sempre a etiqueta e as instruções da máquina.

Care, without the guesswork

Wash, dry, back to the room.

Follow the sewn care label and use a drum with enough room for the rug to move freely.

    Vacuum first

    Lift loose grit with low suction and no aggressive beater bar.

  2. 02

    Blot the spill

    Use cool water and a clean cloth. Blot gently—never scrub the fibres.

  3. 03

    Wash at 30°C

    Load loosely, wash alone on a gentle cycle, and use mild liquid detergent.

  4. 04

    Keep it gentle

    No bleach or fabric softener; both can alter colour and reduce grip.

    Air dry flat

    Reshape while damp and let it dry fully before returning it to the floor.

  6. 06

    Match the dry weight

    Fold loosely and use a machine whose stated capacity is at least the rug's dry weight.

Always check the sewn care label and your machine instructions. Wash the rug alone and never exceed the machine's stated dry-load capacity.
