What Size Rug for a Bedroom? The Rule That Actually Works

The bedroom is the room people most often buy one size too small for. Here is the rule, and why it exists.
The size
Aim for 50–60 cm of rug showing on each side of the bed and past the foot. Under a double that means 200 × 300 cm, placed from about two-thirds of the way up the bed so it is not wasted under the headboard.
Why that rule exists
The only thing a bedroom rug has to do is be there when your feet land. Everything else is decoration.
The thing to watch
Two runners either side of the bed at 80 × 150 cm each is cheaper, works just as well, and is far less rug to wash.

Why washable matters here
A soft landing either side of the bed. Every rug we make washes at 30°C in a domestic machine, grips a hard floor without an underlay, and contains no latex, glue or rubber crumb. In a bedroom that is the difference between a rug you protect and a rug you use.
